Skin Remedy of the week

“Take a few minutes to relax and simultaneously improve your skin with a botanical facial steam! Steam by itself opens up the pores and gives a deep cleanse. Deep breaths of steam can also clear congestion in the sinuses and lungs as well as calm the nervous system. Adding dried herbs to the steam will have even more great benefits for your skin, as well as aromatherapy!

To start, you will get your herbs ready. You want about one cup total of dried herbs:

1/4 licorice root (soothing, deep cleansing)
1/4 calendula (regenerative, anti-bacterial)
1/4 chamomile (anti-inflammatory, soothing)
1/4 rose hip (hydrating, toning)

-Bring 2-3 quarts of water to a boil, add herbs. Simmer for five minutes while you go wash your face
-Remove pot from heat, land make sure it is on a stable surface
-Drop a towel over your head and the pot, keeping your face at least 10 inches away from the water at all times
-Close your eyes, take some deep breaths and relax
-Steam for no longer than 7 minutes!
-When finished, rinse your face with warm water

*You don’t have to follow this recipe exactly, add or remove herbs freely-marshmallow root and elderflower help to hydrate dry skin, while rosemary and sage clarify oily skin.”
